TFG Transfracht turns 50

Combined transport was born in the port of Hamburg in 1969, and April 14 of the same year marks the start of TFG Transfracht's success story. For 50 years, the company has been providing excellent logistics services for transporting freight containers.

A lot has happened during this period: Markets have undergone dynamic chang-es, and volumes have risen non-stop as quality also saw sustained improve-ment. Today, TFG can be justly proud of its position as market leader for com-bined transport services to and from Germany's ports, a position it owes to the AlbatrosExpress system, Europe's densest train network for seaport hinterland services and high-frequency operations.

The company's strength is due in no small part to its talent for innovation and constant striving for improvement. One example: TFG was a pioneer in the field of e-commerce.

TFG's innovative nature was once again on display with the recent launch of box2rail, and the offering's transparency represents a new departure in rail freight logistics. box2rail is a digital booking platform for placing reservations with just a few clicks, and it can transport loads of as little as a single contain-er.Rolling additions to the platform mean that, this year, box2rail 4.0 also fea-tures an instant price display and a comprehensive overview of the capacities present in the entire transport chain in the form of a rail and truck capacity dis-play option.

Furthermore, as a green logistics company, TFG is eager to play its part in pro-tecting the environment. Rail services account for 55% of the modal split for container transportation at German ports - a higher share than the 42.8% han-dled by trucks. This helps reduce traffic on roads and cut CO2 emissions, as TFG supports environmental protection and a sustainable approach to natural resources.

TFG can look back at 50 fascinating years of innovation and growth. Regarding future projects and its goal of breaking the 1 million TEU mark in this, the year of TFG's 50th birthday, Dr. Bernd Pahnke, Spokesperson of the Board of Manag-ing Directors, said, "Very special thanks for these 50 years of company history go to our faithful customers and business partners, and to all of our employees for their work and dedication each and every day."
